JHS Charlie Brown V3
Like its less contented brother, this pedal is modelled after a famous Marshall amp. This time, the JTM45. This is one of HornFX’s favorite drive pedals. With a warm and sweet tone that will cause less feedback, this is a wonderful pedal for any horn player looking for some nice usable overdrive. The next pedal in line, the V4, will likely get higher marks because of its enhanced tonal control.

HornFX Review
Interface: 3/5
The simplicity of this pedal can be misleading. The four knobs are not well labeled and can be confusing. That being said, once you get the hang of it, the pedal’s controls become second nature.
Versatility: 3.5/5
This pedal sounds good on almost all settings. With light drive or super heavy gain, you will not be unhappy with the sound.
Tonal Reproduction: 4.5/5
The Charlie Brown has some of the clearest and prettiest tonal reproduction we have heard in a drive pedal. It doesn’t get too stuffy and mid rangy, and the drive sounds creamy and smooth. There can be some serious bite when you need it, but that will not sacrifice your tone.
Live application: 4/5
Some pedals just sound better. That makes them more fun to play and more fun to have on your rig. For saxophone especially, this pedal simply sounds great, and when you flip it on, you will be a happy person.
