This page is meant to be used along with your copy of Pitch Manipulation Pedals. This page focuses on various techniques of using harmony pedals to play with a band.
These examples are meant to open a window into the possibilities in the live performance world with your pitch-based pedals. Try to take the basic ideas encapsulated in these clips and expand upon them, explore them, and use them as a jumping off point to develop your own methods and strategies for using these types of pedals in your live performance.
Note: In the example using “Just the Two of Us”, there are two different effects being used. Once the chorus begins, a diatonic third up is triggered to give a more full and differentiating sound to the melody. That third is taken away and an octave down is added to punctuate the chorus’s lyrics “just the two of us” in the fourth bar of the chorus. The same tactic is used in bar eight of the chorus for the melody where the lyrics “you and I” would be sung.
