Electro-Harmonix Octavix
Electro-Harmonix Octavix
In an effort to both recreate and modernize a classic sound from the 60’s, the team at EHX have put together an aggressive little machine that can broaden your range of fuzz tones. Although this pedal does sound killer on guitar, some of its bite and octaving capabilities are not easily heard when used by a horn player

Interface: 3.5/5
The controls are incredibly simple and easy to understand. Sadly, the octave knob’s effect seems thoroughly limited.
Versatility: 2/5
This pedal seems as though it can do a lot, but that does not translate well to horns. Firstly, the added octave does not speak clearly, if at all. This leaves you with a plain fuzz pedal that is fairly limited.
Live application: 2/5
Although this pedal’s fuzz does have a warm quality to it, it begins to break up your sound very quickly. That breakup can be heavily detrimental to the integrity of your sound and tone at points.
Tone Reproduction: 2/5
The fuzz tone can be warm at times, but can also break up to an extreme level. The tonal quality is hard to ascertain because of the intensity of the fuzz at certain settings.
